Psalm 86 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 86.

Meditate on verse 3.

Be gracious to me, O LORD,

for to You I cry all day long.

Psalm 86 is a prayer of David.  Perhaps you want to write your name next to David’s in your Bible, making it your prayer, too.

David was afflicted, in need of God’s help.  Here are some of his prayer requests.  Are they the same as yours?

·      Preserve my soul and make it glad (vs. 2, 4).

·      Give ear to my prayer and heed my supplications (v. 6).

·      Teach me Your way, so I can walk in Your truth (v. 11).

·      Unite my heart to fear Your name (v. 11).

·      Turn to me and be gracious to me (vs. 3, 16).

·      Grant me Your strength and save me (v. 16).

·      Show me a sign for good (v. 17).

·      Help me and comfort me (v. 17).

As a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), pray Psalm 86 as your personal prayer.  Here are the first six verses to get you started:

“Incline Your ear, O LORD, and answer me,

for I am afflicted and needy.  Preserve my

soul, for I am a Godly person.  O my God,

save me, Your servant, who trusts in You.

Be gracious to me, O LORD, for to You

I cry all day long.  Make glad the soul of

Your servant, for to You, O LORD, I lift

up my soul.  For You, LORD, are good, and

ready to forgive, and abundant in

lovingkindness to all who call upon You.

Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer and

give heed to the voice of my supplications!

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
