Daniel 2 - Praying God's Word

Please read Daniel 2.

Meditate on verse 5.

The king replied to the Chaldeans, "The

command from me is firm: if you

do not make known to me the

dream and its interpretation,

you will be torn limb from limb and

your houses will be made a rubbish heap.”

What a demanding boss!  Have you ever worked for someone like this guy?  King Nebuchadnezzar not only wanted his dream interpreted; he wanted his wise men to tell him what he dreamt.  Unbelievable!

Notice Daniel’s calm demeanor in this horrible situation.  He responded with discretion and discernment (v. 14).  He asked appropriate questions (v. 15).  He bravely requested more time from the king (v. 16).  He told his prayer partners and they asked for “compassion from the God of heaven concerning this mystery” (vs. 17-18).  God answered those prayers, revealing to Daniel the dream and its meaning—amazing!

When Daniel was ushered into the king’s presence, he boldly declared: “No wise men, conjurers, magicians, nor diviners were able to declare the dream.  However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries” (vs. 27-28).

Daniel turned the attention of this pagan king to Almighty God, so that even Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged God is a “God of gods, Lord of kings, and revealer of mysteries” (v. 47).

Pray for God to make you and those you love a brave, discerning Daniel by praying Daniel 2:14, 18, and 47 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help __________ and me reply to others with

discretion and discernment.  God of heaven, we

need Your compassion concerning this mystery so

that we will not be destroyed.  You are God of gods

and LORD of kings and revealer of mysteries.

We trust in Your name, Jesus~”
