Please read Daniel 5.

Meditate on verses 22-23.
Yet you, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled
your heart, even though you knew
all this, but you have exalted yourself against
the LORD of heaven; and they have
brought the vessels of His house before you,
and you and your nobles, your wives
and your concubines have been drinking wine
from them; and you have praised
the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron,
wood and stone, which do not see,
hear or understand. But the God in
whose hand are your life-breath and
all your ways, you have not glorified.
Belshazzar irreverently praised false gods while consuming wine from goblets stolen from the temple in Jerusalem (vs. 1-4). Suddenly, fingers appeared, writing a message for this arrogant king (v. 5). Faithful Daniel is once again brought in to provide the interpretation, telling Belshazzar God had put an end to his kingdom because Belshazzar was found deficient (vs. 13, 25-28). That very night, Belshazzar was killed, and the kingdom of Babylon divided between the Medes and Persians and ruled by King Darius (vs. 28, 30-31).
Contrast the deficient, arrogant Belshazzar with Daniel. Daniel is described as having illumination, insight, knowledge, an extraordinary spirit, and extraordinary wisdom (vs. 11-12, 14). Before interpreting the handwriting on the wall, he unashamedly declares: “The Most High God is ruler over the realm of mankind, and He sets over it whomever He wishes” (v. 21).
Pray for God to make you and those you love like Daniel. Pray Daniel 5:11-12 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

Let Your illumination, insight, and wisdom be in us.
Because of Your extraordinary Spirit, let knowledge,
insight, interpretation of dreams, explanation of enigmas,

For the glory of Your name, Jesus~”
