Please read Daniel 1.

Meditate on verse 8.
But Daniel made up his mind that
he would not defile himself
with the king's choice food or
with the wine which he drank, so
he sought permission from the
commander of the officials that
he might not defile himself.
The year was 605 BC, and the first wave of exiles was forced-marched from Jerusalem to Babylon. These exiles were Jerusalem’s best: smart, good-looking, strong, young men, capable of serving in King Nebuchadnezzar’s court (v. 4). With royal blood flowing through their own veins (v. 3), these young men were made eunuchs by the Babylonians; their family tree ended with them (Isaiah 39:5-7 KJV).
Despite such a dismal future, Daniel, about 15-years-old, made the choice to stay true to his Godly values, rather than give-in to a Babylonian lifestyle. With his mind set like concrete, he refused to defile himself (v. 8). Daniel’s bold obedience to God will bring a cascade of blessings for the rest of his life.
As you read this amazing book, write a list of Daniel characteristics. Ask God to make you and those you love like this Godly man.
Pray Daniel 1:8-9, 17, and 20-21 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please help ____________ and me make up our
minds that we will not defile ourselves with
the things of this world. As we do, grant us
favor and compassion in the sight of our bosses.
God give us knowledge and intelligence
in every branch of literature and wisdom.
Let us even understand all kinds of visions and
dreams. In every matter of wisdom and
understanding about which we are consulted,
make us ten times better than all others.
Let us faithfully continue all the days of our lives.
In Your name, Jesus~”
