Meditate on and memorize verse 3.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
Have
you ever said something and wished you could take it back? If so, you know it
is impossible to do, and sadly, can cause irreparable damage. The meditation
verse is a good one to memorize and pray before opening your mouth. It can keep
you from saying the regrettable, giving you the opportunity to engage in
conversations knowing the Holy Spirit, instead of your flesh, is controlling
what you say.
Call
to the LORD on behalf of yourself and those for whom you stand guard with Psalm
141:1-4 and 8, as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“O LORD, I call upon You;
hasten to ________ and me!
Give ear to our voice when we call to You!
May our prayers be counted as incense before You;
the lifting up of our hands as the evening offering.
Set a guard, O LORD, over our mouths;
keep watch over the door of our lips.
Do not incline our hearts to any evil thing,
to practice deeds of wickedness
with men who do iniquity;
and do not let us eat of their
delicacies.
Our eyes are toward You, O God, the LORD;
in You we take refuge; do not leave us defenseless.
In Your name, Jesus~”
