Psalm 136 - Praying God's Word

Meditate on verse 1.

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,

 for His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Lovingkindness—it is a Scriptural word rooted in the tender regard and mercy of God for His people. The fact that His lovingkindness is everlasting is amazing.

The psalmist recognized God’s lovingkindness as a catalyst in his life, and he praised Him for it. Pray Psalm 136:1-9 and 23-26 in acknowledgment and thanksgiving of God’s lovingkindness as His faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“l give thanks to You, LORD, for You are good,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. 

I give thanks to You, the God of gods,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

 I give thanks to You, LORD of lords,

 for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

You alone do great wonders,

 for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

You made the heavens with skill,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. 

You spread out the earth above the waters,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. 

You made the great lights,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. 

You made the sun to rule by day,

 for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

You made the moon and stars to rule by night,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting. 

You remembered us in our low estate,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

 You have rescued us from our adversaries,

 for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.  

You give food to all flesh,

for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.

 I give thanks to You, God of heaven,

 for Your lovingkindness is everlasting.”
