Psalm 130 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 130.

Meditate on verses 1-2a.

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD.
LORD, hear my voice!

The LORD brought the psalmist out of the place where liars dwelled (Psalm 120; 129). Now, he needed God to bring him out of the depths of his sin (Psalm 130). The pit of one’s own iniquity is more dreadful than the dread of humans wanting to harm you. Incredibly, the same LORD who can save you from human persecution can save you from the sins that persecute your soul. Thankfully, because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and through faith in Him, God does not keep record of your iniquities if you belong to Him. If you are with Jesus, you dwell in abundant redemption (v. 7). Amazing!
Cry out to the LORD with the words of Psalm 130 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Out of the depth, I am crying to You, O LORD.
 LORD, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
 If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O LORD,
who could stand?  Thank You that there is abundant
 forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.
I wait for You, LORD, my soul does wait,
and in Your Word, I hope.
My soul waits for You, LORD;
 more than the watchmen for the morning;
 indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.
 I hope in You, LORD; for with You, there is lovingkindness,
and with You is abundant redemption.
LORD, You will redeem Israel;
 please redeem _________ and me from all our iniquities.
In Your name, Jesus~”
