Psalm 114 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 114.

Meditate on verses 7-8.

Tremble, O earth, before the LORD, before the God
of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool of
water, the flint into a fountain of water.

This psalm recalls several miracles God did for Israel as part of saving them from slavery in Egypt.

·      Opening of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21)
·      Opening of the Jordan River (Joshua 3:13, 16)
·      Bringing water to drink from a rock (Exodus 17:6)

Can you relate to this psalm? Recall the day God brought you out of slavery to sin. Remember how the LORD miraculously opened doors for you and thank Him for working on your behalf. Never forget the day God turned your heart of flint into a heart for Him and gave you the living water of His Spirit (John 4:10; 7:37-39).
Take some time to write your own psalm of recollection to help you remember how God saved you.
Use the words from Psalm 114:1-2 and 8 to pray over those who need a psalm of salvation, as their faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please bring _________ forth from their slavery
to sin and Satan.  Free them from the strange language of the world.
Jesus, please become their sanctuary and their dominion.
Turn their heart that is as hard as rock into a pool of water.
Make their heart of flint a fountain of living water.
By Your Holy Spirit, in Your name, Jesus~”
