Meditate on and memorize verse 73.
Your hands made me and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn Your commandments.
Perhaps you have been told to use the good brain God gave you. As a Christian, you not only have a God-given brain, you have the mind of Christ; therefore, you can take every thought captive to the obedience of Him (1 Corinthians 2:16; 2 Corinthians 10:5).
This tenth stanza of Psalm 119 gives you the secret for making your thoughts pleasing to the LORD. Learn God’s Word, delight in it, and meditate on it. Even if others are lying about you, ponder, speak, and pray Scripture. This holy habit will destroy speculations and vain imaginations, keeping you from wasting your day with futile thinking.
Pray Psalm 119:73-80 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, Your hands made and fashioned __________ and me.
Give us understanding that we may learn Your commandments.
May those who fear You see us and be glad
because we wait for Your Word.
We know, O LORD, that Your judgments are righteous
and that in faithfulness You have afflicted us.
O may Your lovingkindness comfort us, according
to Your Word to Your servants.
May Your compassion come to us that
we may live, for Your law is our delight.
May the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert us with a lie,
but we shall meditate on Your precepts.
May those who fear You turn to us;
even those who know Your testimonies.
May our hearts be blameless in Your statutes,
so we will not be ashamed.
In Your name, Jesus~”
