Meditate on and memorize verse 33.
Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes,
and I shall observe it to the end.
In this fifth stanza, the psalmist realizes the only way to thrive in this life is to do it God’s way. These are verses of total commitment to the LORD and His Word as the psalmist declares to keep God’s law with all his heart and observe it to the end (vs. 33-34).
What about you? Do you crave God’s Word? Do you want God to establish you in it for the purpose of walking in reverence with Him all the days of your life?
In humility, ask the Holy Spirit to show you things you long for more than Christ and His Word. In repentance, pray Psalm 119:33-40 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“O LORD, teach _______ and me the way of Your statutes,
and let us observe them to the end. Give us understanding,
that we may observe Your law and keep it with all our heart.
Make us walk in the path of Your commandments;
let us delight in them. Incline our hearts to Your testimonies
and not to dishonest gain. Turn away our eyes from looking
at vanity and revive us in Your ways. Establish Your Word
to us, Your servants, as that which produces reverence for You.
Turn away reproach, which we dread, for Your
ordinances are good. Behold, we long for Your precepts;
revive us through Your righteousness.
In Your name, Jesus~”
