Psalm 119:81-88 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 119:81-88.

Meditate on and memorize verse 88.

Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
so that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.

A distraught psalmist wrote this eleventh stanza of Psalm 119.  Feeling dried up and useless, he described himself as a wineskin in the smoke.  Can you relate to him?  Where do you turn in the midst of such difficulty and persecution?  The psalmist knows his only source for comfort was God and His Word.  His soul longs for God’s salvation, not what the world offers.

These are great verses for life’s difficult seasons.  Use the words of Psalm 119:81-88 to pray over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, ________ and my soul languishes for Your salvation;
we wait for Your Word.
 Our eyes fail with longing for Your Word, while
 we say, ‘When will You comfort us?’
 Though we have become like a wineskin in the
smoke, we do not forget Your statutes.
How many are the days of Your servants?
When will You execute judgment on those who persecute us?
The arrogant have dug pits for us, men who
are not in accord with Your law.
All Your commandments are faithful;
they have persecuted us with a lie; help us!
They almost destroyed us on earth, but as for
us, we did not forsake Your precepts.
Revive us according to Your lovingkindness,
 so that we may keep the testimony of Your mouth.
In Your name, Jesus~”
