Psalm 119:17-24 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 119:17-24.

Meditate on and memorize verse 24.

Your testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors.

The psalmist recognizes his citizenship is not on this earth; therefore, he needs God’s commandments and counseling as he sojourns here.  The world’s rules and advice will not satisfy his soul; he desperately longs for God’s ordinances and testimonies.

As you meditate on God’s Word, let it shape your thoughts and behaviors.  Even if others say negative things about you, let the LORD’s statutes be what you think about.  You will be amazed how different your days will be when you fix your eyes on Christ and His Word instead of the circumstances around you.

Pray Psalm 119:17-24 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please deal bountifully with _______ and
me, Your servants, that we may live and keep Your Word.
Open our eyes that we may behold wonderful
 things from Your law.  We are strangers in the earth;
do not hide Your commandments from us.
Our souls are crushed with longing after Your
ordinances at all times.  Do not let us be the
arrogant, the cursed, whom You rebuke.
Do not let us wander from Your commandments!
Take away reproach and contempt from us, for
we observe Your testimonies.  Even though others
sit and talk against us, help us to meditate on Your statutes.
We are Your servants.  Your testimonies are
our delight; they are our counselors.
In Your name, Jesus~”
