Meditate on and memorize verse 50.
This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your Word has revived me.
This seventh stanza in Psalm 119 reveals an afflicted psalmist. Surrounded by the arrogant and the wicked, God and His Word are his sources of comfort and hope.
Perhaps you can relate. Have you ever been so distraught on a sleepless night that the only thing you can remember is the name of the LORD Jesus, saying it over and over? Have you ever felt stripped of everything, yet you can say, “This is mine; I observe the LORD’s precepts”?
Thankfully you have the verses of this psalm to pray during difficult times. Pray them over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please remember the Word to Your servants,
in which You have made _______ and me hope.
This is our comfort in our affliction, that Your Word has revived us.
The arrogant utterly deride us, yet we do not turn
aside from Your law. Help us to remember Your ordinances from of
old, O LORD, and comfort us. Burning indignation has seized us
because of the wicked who forsake Your law. Your statutes
are our song in the house of our pilgrimage.
O LORD, we remember Your name in the night and keep Your law.
This has become ours, that we observe Your precepts.
In Your name, Jesus~”
