Meditate on verses 5-6 and 31.
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water,
and he cried out and said, "Alas, my master! For it was borrowed."
Then the man of God said, "Where did it fall?"
And when he showed him the place,
he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.
Then he (King Jehoram) said, "May God do so to me and more also,
if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on him today."
Isn’t it wonderful that a chapter about a man of God with a double bounty on his head begins with the miracle of a floating axe head? Elisha had no doubt that God who saved the head of an axe could certainly save his. And the remainder of the chapter records a man walking in the confidence of the LORD rather than running around like a chicken with his head cut off.
Be encouraged by the story of Elisha. He fully expected God to do the miraculous in his life, and God did not disappoint him. Ask the LORD to open your physical and spiritual eyes to see the marvelous things He is doing on your behalf. Walk confidently with the LORD in constant praise and thanksgiving for who He is and what He does.
Pray 2 Kings 6:16-17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let _________ and me fear; make
those who are with us more than those
who are with them (our enemies).
O LORD, I pray, open our eyes that we may see!
Open the eyes of us, Your servants, to
see the miraculous things
You are doing all around us.
In Your name, Jesus~”
