1 Kings 12 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Kings 12.

Meditate on verse 15.

So the king did not listen to the people; for it was
a turn of events from the LORD,
that He might establish His word, which
the LORD spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite
to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Solomon dies, and his kingdom quickly divides, just as God said, because Solomon led his people away from the LORD to worship the gods of his non-Jewish wives (1 Kings 11:33, 43). God told Solomon his kingdom would be given to his servant, Jeroboam, and despite Solomon’s efforts to stop the prophecy, God’s Word prevailed; Jeroboam became king over the ten northern tribes of Israel (1 Kings 11:11, 26-40). After being anointed, Jeroboam did not trust God to give him those tribes (1 Kings 11:38). Instead, he built two places for idol worship with a couple of golden calves in the northern part of Israel, so his followers would not worship in Jerusalem and become subjects of King Rehoboam (vs. 25-33). You can probably imagine things did not go well for Jeroboam!
Examine the events in your life. What is happening because God keeps His Word? What is happening because God punishes sin? Spend this day being honest with yourself and God, confessing, repenting, and desiring to walk wholeheartedly with Him.
Pray 1 Kings 12:24 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help ________ and me obey You when You say to not go up
and fight against ________.  Help us to discern what events have come from You.
Let us listen to Your Word, LORD, and return to You
and go our way according to Your Word.
In Your name, Jesus~”
