Please read 1 Kings 22:51-53 and 2 Kings 1.
Meditate on verse 16.
Then he said to him, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Because
you have sent messengers to
inquire of Baal-zebub,
the god of Ekron—is it because there is no
God in Israel to inquire of His Word?
Therefore, you shall not come down from the bed
where you have gone up but shall surely die.’”
King Ahaziah, the son of evil King Ahab and wicked Queen Jezebel, walked in the ways of his parents, serving and worshiping Baal,
causing Israel to sin, and provoking the LORD God to anger (1 Kings 22:51-
53). When he suffered a serious fall,
he sought the idol Baal for answers concerning his wellbeing. Three times God
declared that Ahaziah would die
because he consulted Baal instead of
the LORD. “So Ahaziah died according
to the Word of the LORD” (v. 17a).
Examine
your life. Where do you turn for advice and consultation? The LORD wants you to
seek Him and His will for your life. Read His Word and learn what He has
already declared to be His will. Talk to Him about everything and listen to the
Holy Spirit and the Godly people He sends to guide you in every detail of your
life.
Use the words from 2 Kings 1:16 to
pray over yourself
and those for whom
you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful
watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, You are God in my family;
therefore, I am inquiring of Your Word.
Please do not confine us to our beds; please let us live.
In Your name, Jesus~”
