Meditate on verses 13-14.
Then the messenger who went to summon
Micaiah spoke to him saying,
“Behold now, the words of the prophets
are uniformly favorable to the king.
Please let your word be like the word
of one of them and speak favorably.”
But Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, what
the LORD says to me, that I shall speak.”
King Ahab surrounded himself with 400 false prophets who told him what he wanted to hear. They even said the word “Lord,” but they were not prophets of the LORD, and they did not prophesy in His name (vs. 6-7). Micaiah, a true prophet of God, was hated by King Ahab because he prophesied evil and not good for this king described as doing “evil in the sight of the LORD more than all who were before him” (v. 8; 1 Kings 16:30).
There are still people, similar to King Ahab, who surround themselves with false preachers and teachers who condone rather than condemn their sins. They claim God has changed His mind with the times, and certain sins are now permissible. Do not be deceived! The LORD did not change His mind, and His Word has not changed. Refuse to listen to ear-tickling teachers preaching false doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3). Be a fearless Micaiah, who spoke God’s Word even as he was taken to prison for telling the Truth (vs. 26-28).
Pray 1 Kings 22:14 and 43 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, as You live, what You have said I will speak!
May ________ and I not turn aside from Your ways;
let us do what is right in Your sight.
Take away the high, prideful places in our lives.
In Your name, Jesus~”
