Meditate on verse 12.
Jehoshaphat said, “The Word of the LORD is with him (Elisha).”
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat
and the king of Edom went down to him.
After the death of King Ahaziah, Jehoram, his brother, became king in his place (2 Kings 1:17). Jehoram, another descendant of evil King Ahab and wicked Queen Jezebel, ruled over God’s beloved nation of Israel. Jehoram did evil in the sight of the LORD, but at least he wasn’t as bad as his father and mother because he removed Ahab’s sacred pillar to Baal (v. 2). Pray for your descendants to do better than you as they walk with the LORD. And be diligent to walk well with God, so your children’s walks can be amazing!
The chapter continues with God doing the impossible on behalf of Israel, Judah, and Edom in the fight against Moab. As prophesied by Elisha, the LORD miraculously filled a valley with water to refresh those He was fighting for, yet He made it appear as blood for those He was fighting against. It is important to be on the side of the LORD! Pray toward that goal by using the words from 2 Kings 3:12 and 15 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, keep _______ and me in Your Word,
so Your Word is always with us.
Let Your hand come upon us for good.
In Your name, Jesus~”
