1 Kings 20 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Kings 20.

Meditate on verse 13.

Now behold, a prophet approached Ahab king of Israel and said,
“Thus says the LORD, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude?  Behold, I will deliver them into your hand today, and you shall know that I am the LORD.’”

Twice  the LORD miraculously saved King Ahab and the Israelites from  a besieging Ben-hadad, king of Aram (Syria). God acted for His renown, so the Israelites and the Syrians would know He is LORD and God over everything (vs. 13, 28). Sadly, after the victories, King Ahab made a covenant with his enemy, Be-hadad, rather than destroy him as the LORD commanded (vs. 34, 42). God promised Ahab that he and his people would die because of Ahab’s disobedience (v. 42). Isn’t it interesting that the Israelites are still plagued by enemies in Syria to this day? I wonder what would be different in the Middle East if Ahab had obeyed God.
Total obedience is a big deal to God! Do not take His miracles for granted and do not be tempted to disobey Him even in little things. Destroy completely any sin that remains in your life.
Use the words from 1 Kings 20:28 to pray over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, You are God of the mountains,
and You are God of the valleys.
You have given ___________ into my hand.
Let me be obedient to do what You say,
so I and others will know You are the LORD.
In Your name, Jesus~”
