Meditate on verse 16.
Thus says the whole congregation of the LORD,
“What is this unfaithful act which you have committed
against the God of Israel, turning away from
following the LORD this day, by building yourselves
an altar, to rebel against the LORD this day?”
When the tribes of Israel perceived Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh had built an altar against God’s commands, they addressed the issue, going to the offenders and asking, “What have you done?” They didn’t want sin to enter a few of the tribes yet impact the entire nation. After discussing the situation with them, it was determined there was no offense. Thankfully, the issue was addressed rather than letting misperceptions simmer and sin run rampant.
Ask the LORD to give you, your family, and your church the courage to confront sin, so it doesn’t permeate everyone. Be willing to question others’ actions to understand what they are doing and to give Biblical counsel when necessary.
Pray Joshua 22:5 and 34 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let ___________ and me be very careful to observe
the commandment and the law which Moses, Your servant,
commanded us, to love You, LORD our God, and walk in all Your ways
and keep Your commandments and hold fast to You and serve
You with all our heart and with all our soul. LORD, let us be called,
‘Witness,’ for we will be a witness that You, LORD, are God.
In Your name, Jesus~”
