1 Chronicles 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 1.

Meditate on verse 10.

Cush became the father of Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

God gave Israel the book of Chronicles* after returning from the Babylonian exile because He knew how much they needed reassurance He had not abandoned them; He remembered them, and He keeps His promises.  These are important truths for us to remember as well.

The first nine chapters of Chronicles contain genealogies.  Imagine how important these were to the Jewish people who needed to be reminded of God’s faithfulness.  As you read those names, keep in mind that God also knows you and your loved ones by name.  Use these next nine days to pray specifically, by name, for those who need:

1.     to be mighty in the LORD (v. 10)

2.     to stop being wicked (1 Chronicles 2:3)

3.     more days to serve God (1 Chronicles 3:4)

4.     to be honorable (1 Chronicles 4:9)

5.     to trust God (1 Chronicles 5:20)

6.     to serve God and His people (1 Chronicles 6:33)

7.     to be mighty people of valor (1 Chronicles 7:40)

8.     to get rid of their giants (1 Chronicles 8:13)

9.     to be keepers of God’s Truth (1 Chronicles 9:23)

Use the words from 1 Chronicles 1:10 to pray for yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, make __________ and me a mighty

one in the earth for You.

In Your name, Jesus”

·       1 and 2 Chronicles was originally written as one book.
