Joshua 15 - Praying God's Word

Please read Joshua 15.

Meditate on verses 16-19.

And Caleb said, "The one who attacks Kiriath-sepher and

captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter as a wife."

Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it, so

he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.  It came about

that when she came to him, she persuaded him to ask her

father for a field.  So, she alighted from the donkey,

and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?"

Then she said, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me

the land of the Negev, give me also springs of water."

So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

In the middle of a chapter filled with place names, is a beautiful story about Caleb and his daughter.  Achsah must have been a daddy’s girl because she not only inherited land from her father, but also his bold confidence.  After persuading her husband to ask Caleb for a field, she herself approached her father, requesting a blessing—springs of water to accompany the land he had already given her.  Caleb granted her request, giving her both the upper and the lower springs.

As a child of God, you have already inherited eternal life from the Father, and He has given you His confidence:

Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.

—2 Corinthians 3:4

Confidently come to the Father asking Him for springs of living water for those who need salvation (John 4:10).  Pray Joshua 15:19 as their faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, give me a blessing.  Please give

Your springs of living water to __________.

Through Your name, Jesus~”
