Meditate on verses 2-5.
Behold, the glory of the God of Israel
was coming from the way of the east.
And His voice was like the sound of many waters;
and the earth shone with His glory. And it was like
the appearance of the vision which I saw, like the vision
which I saw when He came to destroy the city.
And the visions were like the vision which I saw by the river Chebar,
and I fell on my face. And the glory of the
LORD came into the house by the way of the gate
facing toward the east. And the Spirit lifted
me up and brought me into the inner court; and
behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
What a joy and a relief this vision of God’s glory returning to the temple must have been for Ezekiel! Nearly 20 years earlier he saw God’s glory departing the temple and the city of Jerusalem (Ezekiel 10:18; 11:23). As Ezekiel beheld God’s glory, his immediate response was to fall on his face, just as he had done years ago (Ezekiel 1:28; 3:23; 9:8; 11:13; 43:3).
What is your reaction to God’s glory, to being in His presence? Falling to your knees or lying facedown on the floor are positions of humility and reverence. They are great prayer positions when bringing issues of concern to God Almighty.
If you are physically able, fall on your face before God, bringing your loved ones to Him. Start your prayers with Ezekiel 43:3-5.
“LORD, as I fall on my face before You, give
me a vision for ____________.
LORD, let Your glory come into our house.
Spirit, please lift us up and bring us into
Your inner courts. LORD, let Your glory fill our house.
For the sake of Your glorious name, Jesus~”
