Ezekiel 29 - Praying God's Word

Please read Ezekiel 29.

Meditate on verses 9-10a.

"The land of Egypt will become a desolation and waste.
Then they will know that I am the LORD.
Because you said, 'The Nile is mine,
and I have made it;' therefore, behold, I am against you.”

Twice in this chapter the LORD declared He was against Pharaoh because he claimed to create and own the Nile (vs. 3, 9). God does not tolerate such arrogant speech and attitudes. He promised to let the beasts and birds eat Pharaoh; then all of Egypt would know who is God (vs. 5-6).
A “this is mine” attitude is part of our sinful nature. It usually rears its ugly head by the time we turn one-year-old. The “look at what I did” attitude appears at about the same age, and left unchecked by Christ and His Word, it convinces us that we built our business, our stuff belongs to us, and we are self-made individuals—all “Pharaohish” things to think.
Let God’s Word change you:

For by Him (Jesus) all things were created, both
in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—
all things have been created through Him and for Him.
—Colossians 1:16

Jesus Christ is the Creator of everything, and He created everything for Himself. That means if you have anything, it is only because the LORD Jesus chose to share it with you.
Humbly pray to be the opposite of Ezekiel 29:3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“O LORD God, please do not be against ___________ and me.
Do not let us act like Pharaoh; remove
the monster that lies in each of us
that says, ‘My __________ is mine, and I myself made it.’
Because You created everything,
and everything belongs to You, Jesus~”
