Ezekiel 32 - Praying God's Word

Please read Ezekiel 32.

Meditate on verses 2 and 11.

"Son of man, take up a lamentation
over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him,
'You compared yourself to a young lion of the nations,
yet you are like the monster in the seas;
and you burst forth in your rivers
and muddied the waters with your feet
and fouled their rivers.'"
For thus says the LORD GOD, "The sword of
 the king of Babylon will come upon you.”

Egypt was filled with pride at being one of the strongest kingdoms in the world when the LORD prophesied against Pharaoh and his realm. Egypt’s strength was no match for God, who easily removes powerful empires when they get full of themselves and forget about Him. He even listed some of them in this chapter: Assyria, Elam, Meshech, Tubal, Edom, and Sidon (vs. 22-30). Egypt would join the list of the once mighty, but now shamefully fallen, who reside in Sheol, the place of the dead.
Be mindful of the temptation to get full of yourself, stopping it immediately before the LORD devastates your pride (v. 12). Pray not to be like Pharaoh, using the words from Ezekiel 32:2. Pray it over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, do not let ________ and me
compare ourselves to a young lion,
 yet act like a monster in our seas of responsibilities.
 Do not let us burst forth in the rivers where you placed us
 and muddy the waters with our feet and foul our rivers.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
