Meditate on verse 20.
He measured it on the four sides; it had
a wall all around, the length five hundred
and the width five hundred, to divide
between the holy and the profane.
God is holy. He cannot be in the presence of the profane, so a massive wall, to keep the things that are sacred separate from the things that are not, surrounded His temple. As you picture this wall, thank Jesus for tearing down the wall that separated you from God, so you can run boldly into the holy place of God’s presence.
But Jesus, on the other hand, because
He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.
Therefore, He is able also to save forever those
who draw near to God through Him, since He
always lives to make intercession for them.
—Hebrews 7:24-25
Because of the LORD Jesus Christ, you can draw near to God and partake of the most holy things (v. 13). What an amazing privilege you have!
Keeping in mind that as a Christian you are the temple of God and a priest to God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Peter 2:5, 9), pray Ezekiel 42:13 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let _________ and me always be those
who are near to You. Let us eat the most holy things.
Let us lay the most holy things before You.
Let our offerings be holy, for the place is holy.
Because of You, LORD Jesus~”
