Meditate on verses 6-7a.
For thus says the Lord GOD, "Because you have
clapped your hands and stamped your feet and
rejoiced with all the scorn of your soul against the land of Israel;
therefore, behold, I have stretched out My hand against you."
The LORD told Ezekiel to prophesy against Ammon, Moab, Edom, and the Philistines. God promised to punish Ammon for gloating over Israel’s demise and to judge Moab for speaking ill of her (vs. 3, 6, 8). Edom and the Philistines would experience the vengeance of God for taking their own vengeance on Judah (vs. 12-17).
God deals with His nation, Israel, and He does not take lightly when others mistreat her or rejoice in her sufferings. In fact, God does not want you to take your own vengeance or rejoice in anyone’s calamity.
Never take your own revenge, beloved,
but leave room for the wrath of God,
for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE;
I WILL REPAY," says the LORD.
—Romans 12:19
He who rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished.
—Proverbs 17:5b
Pray not to do Ezekiel 25:3 and 6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, may __________ and I always hear Your Word.
Let us never say ‘Aha!’ against Israel or
anyone when they are profaned, made desolate, and exiled.
Do not let us clap our hands and stamp our feet and rejoice
with all the scorn of our souls against Israel or anyone else.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
