Meditate on verses 37b-39a.
Jesus stood and cried out, saying,
“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said,
‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”
But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive.
Jesus gives an amazing invitation and promise to anyone who wants to follow Him. Jesus invites you to come and imbibe deeply of Him. As a believer in Jesus, you have the privilege of soaking Him up.
When you accept Christ’s invitation to come and drink of Him, He gives you His Spirit, whom He describes as a river of living water flowing inside you. The living water of the Holy Spirit vivifies, quickens, and empowers you. Incredible!
Jesus’ words are a fulfillment of Isaiah 12:2-3. Say these words to your Savior:
“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid,
for the LORD God is my strength and song,
and He has become my salvation.”
Therefore you will joyously draw water
from the springs of salvation.
Pray John 7:37-39 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, I am thirsty. I come to You and drink deeply.
Let the living waters of Your Spirit flow from my innermost being.
LORD, please let _________ believe in You
and come and drink of Your Spirit.
In Your name, Jesus~”
