Meditate on verses 14 and 27-28. Jesus is talking.
“I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
and I give eternal life to them,
and they will never perish;
and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
—Psalm
23:1
John 10 adds great insight into the
psalmist’s declaration that the LORD is his shepherd. Observe the Shepherd Jesus Christ:
·
Jesus is the good shepherd (vs. 11, 14).
·
Jesus lays down His life for the sheep (v. 11,
15, 17, 18).
·
Jesus knows His own sheep, and His sheep know
Him (v. 14, 27).
·
Jesus gives His sheep eternal life, and they
never perish (v. 28).
·
Jesus’ sheep will not be snatched out of His
hand (v. 28).
As you hear and follow your Good Shepherd, know with
confidence you will never perish because you have eternal life, forever carried
in His hand.
As a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), pray John
10:27-28 over someone who needs to let the Good Shepherd give them eternal
life.
“Good Shepherd, please let ___________ hear
Your voice and be known by You.
May they follow You, so You will give them eternal life.
I do not want them to perish.
I want them to be in Your hand, so no one
can snatch them out of Your
hand.
Good Shepherd, thank You for doing
all of those things for me.
I shall not want in Your name,
Jesus~”
