Meditate on verses 2b-3.
Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man.
Keep the charge of the LORD your
God, to walk
in His ways and to keep His
statutes, His commandments,
His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what
is written in the Law of Moses, that
you may succeed
in all that you do and wherever
you turn.
This
chapter contains the last words of King David to his son, King Solomon. They
are wise words from a loving father who wanted to see his son firmly
established in God’s plans for his life (vs. 4, 12).
David’s
words probably echo your desires for your loved ones. You want them to be strong in the LORD. You want the males to
show themselves to be men, not emasculated by the ways of the world. You want
your loved ones to walk in God’s truth with all their heart and soul so they can succeed in His
plans for their lives.
As
a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), pray 1 Kings 2:2b-4 and 45 over
yourself and those for whom you stand guard.
“LORD, let ________ and me be strong.
Make our men show themselves to
be men.
Help us keep Your charge, O LORD our God,
to walk in Your ways, to keep
Your statutes, Your commandments,
Your ordinances, and Your
testimonies,
according to what is written in Your Law,
that we may succeed in all that
we do
and wherever we turn, so that
You may
carry out Your promises which
You spoke concerning us.
Make us careful of our way to
walk before
You in truth with all our heart
and with all our soul.
Do not let us be lacking; let us
be blessed
and established before You forever.
In Your name, Jesus~”
