John 13 - Praying God's Word

Please read John 13.

Meditate on verse 23.

There was reclining on Jesus’ bosom
one of His disciples whom Jesus loved.

When John wrote about reclining on the bosom of His Savior, he gave you an incredible picture of intimacy with Christ.  As John couched closely with Jesus, he was able to hear His heartbeat. It is amazing that Almighty God not only allows such closeness to Him but desires you to be that close to Him!
David wrote about this kind of intimacy with God: “The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him” (Ps. 25:14).  The Hebrew word for secret literally means intimacy.1 The LORD is intimate with and reveals His secrets to those who fear Him.
As you walk with Jesus today, lean up against His chest and hear His heart beating. Ask Him what His heartbeat is concerning issues in your life and the lives of those you love.  Learn what makes Him happy, sad, joyful, and mad. Ask Him to give you His heart for what is happening in the world, so your heart beats as one with His.
Pray to obey Jesus’ command in John 13:34-35. Pray it over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, as I lean on You, help me to hear and obey You.
May ________ and I love one another, even as You have loved us,
that we may love one another.
May all men know that we are Your disciples
because we love one another.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
