2 Chronicles 22 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Chronicles 22.

Meditate on verses 3-5a, noticing the words counsel and counselor.

He (Ahaziah) also walked in the ways of

 the house of Ahab, for his mother was

 His counselor to do wickedly.  He did evil

in the sight of the LORD like the

house of Ahab, for they were his counselors

 after the death of his father, to

his destruction.  He also walked

according to their counsel.

This is such a tragic chapter—a mother counseling her son to do wickedly and the son walking in the destructive advice of evil counselors leading to his death (vs. 3-5, 9).

Contrast the meditation verses with these counseling verses.

I will bless the LORD who has counseled me;

indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.

—Psalm 16:7

 I (the LORD) will instruct you and

 teach you in the way which

 you should go; I will counsel

you with My eye upon you.

—Psalm 32:8

Your testimonies also are my delight;

they are my counselors.

—Psalm 119:24

Set your heart to seek the LORD’s advice, getting your guidance from the Holy Spirit and His Word.  Pray the opposite of 2 Chronicles 22:3-5 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, do not let __________ and me counsel others

to do wickedly.  Do not let us do

 evil in Your sight, nor seek the counsel

of evildoers, leading to destruction.

 Let us walk according to Your counsel.

In Your name, Jesus~”
