1 Chronicles 28 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 28.

Meditate on verse 6.

He (God) said to me, “Your son Solomon is the

one who shall build My house and My

courts; for I have chosen him to be a

son to Me, and I will be a father to him.”

In front of his royal court, military commanders, overseers, and mighty men, King David entrusted his son, Solomon, with the plans for building God’s temple (vs. 1, 11-12).  God chose Solomon to build the temple instead of David, so rather than being jealous of his son or upset with God for not choosing him, David did all he could to ensure Solomon’s success.

What a great chapter for parents—both physical and spiritual—to help us propel others to do great things for God.  Think about those God gives you to mentor.  What are you doing to ensure their success?  Do you pray daily for them?  Do you spend time with them, teaching them things of the LORD?  Do you provide resources for their walk with Christ?  Do you cheer them in God’s will for their lives?

Use the words from 1 Chronicles 28:7-10 to pray over those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, establish ______________ in You, forever.

May they resolutely perform Your commandments

and ordinances.  Let them observe and seek after all Your

commandments, so they may possess the good and

bequeath it to their children after them forever.

Let them know You, God, and serve You with a whole

heart and a willing mind, for LORD, You search all hearts

and understand every intent of the thoughts.  Let them seek

You and find You.  Let them never forsake You!  Choose them

to build Your church.  Let them be courageous and act.

In Your name, Jesus~”
