2 Chronicles 3 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Chronicles 3.

Meditate on verse 1.

Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in

Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared

to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on

the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

This is not the first time Mount Moriah is mentioned in the Bible.  The first was 1,000 years earlier:

Now it came about after these things, that God tested

Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!"  And he said, "Here I am."

He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac,

and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt

offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."

—Genesis 22:1-2

The temple of the LORD, the place where sacrifices were made for sins, was built on Mount Moriah, the mountain where God provided a substitutionary ram in place of Isaac (Genesis 22:13).  One thousand years after the temple was built, God provided Himself as the substitutionary Lamb on Mount Moriah, taking away the sin of the world (Genesis 22:8; John 1:29).

As you ponder the enormity of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for sins, use the words from 2 Chronicles 3:1 to pray for those who need to accept His sacrifice for their sins.

“LORD, You appeared to David and Abraham on

Mount Moriah.  LORD, please appear to ____________.

Let them accept Your sacrifice on Mount Moriah, so

You can begin to build them into Your house, LORD.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
