Meditate on verses 4a and 5.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the name
of the LORD my God, dedicating it
to Him, to burn fragrant incense before Him.
The house which I am about to build will be
great, for greater is our God than all the gods.
As you ponder the enormity of building a house for God, think about what the LORD is building in your life because the temple is actually a picture of you—the dwelling place of God’s Spirit.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? You are
being built up as a spiritual house for a holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable
to God through Jesus Christ because greater is He who is
in you than he who is in the world.
—1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Peter 2:5; 1 John 4:4b
As you continue to learn about the temple, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how you are His temple.
Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of
God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice,
acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
—Romans 12:1
Pray 2 Chronicles 2:12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Blessed are You, LORD, the God of ___________ and me, who has made
heaven and earth and who makes us wise. Endow us with discretion
and understanding. Build us into Your house, LORD.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
