Please read Matthew 23.

Meditate on verses 8-10.
Do not be called Rabbi; for One is your
Teacher, and you are all brothers.
Do not call anyone on earth your father;
for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
Do not be called leaders; for
One is your Leader, that is, Christ.
The context for Christ’s commands not to be called, “Rabbi”, “Father”, or “Leader,” is pride.
They love the place of honor at banquets
and the chief seats in the synagogues, and
respectful greetings in the marketplaces
and being called Rabbi by men.
—Matthew 23:6-7
Jesus commands you not to be called Rabbi, Father, or Leader because it will go to your head, and you will think you are God over those you have the privilege to teach, parent, and lead. So, while you may be a rabbi (teacher), father, or a leader, do not lord that position over others, refusing such titles as: Most Reverend, Lord Bishop, Very Holy Father. Jesus forbids titles and honors which exalt humans and exacerbates pride.
Perhaps this chapter difficult for you and your church because of centuries-old traditions? Jesus calls us to die to traditions. We do not want Jesus saying, “Woe to you!” like He does the traditionalists in this chapter, referring to them as hypocrites, fools, sons of hell, blind guides, and serpents (vs. 13-33).
Pray Matthew 23:8-12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, You are Rabbi. You are the One Teacher.
Teach __________ and me.
LORD, You are the One Father, who is in heaven.
LORD, You are the One Leader, Jesus Christ.
We are Your servants.”
