Proverbs 23 - Praying God's Word

Please read Proverbs 23.

Meditate on verse 17.

Do not let your heart envy sinners
 but live in the fear of the LORD always.

Pray Proverbs 23 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, when You give _______ and me the
opportunity to dine with a ruler, let us consider
carefully what is before us; remove our
 appetite for deceptive delicacies.
Do not let us weary ourselves to gain wealth;
 let us cease consideration of it, for when
 we set our eyes on wealth, it is gone like
an eagle that flies toward the heavens.
 Do not let us eat the bread of a selfish man
 or desire his delicacies, for as he thinks within himself, so he is.
 He says, “Eat and drink!” but his heart is not with us;
 we will vomit the morsel we have eaten.
 Do not let us waste our compliments on that selfish person.
 Do not let us speak in the hearing of a fool,
for he will despise the wisdom of our words.
Do not let us move the ancient boundary
 or go into the fields of the fatherless,
 for their Redeemer is strong; we do want
You to plead their case against us.
 Make us apply our hearts to discipline
 and our ears to words of knowledge.
 Do not let us hold back discipline from our children;
 if we need to strike them with the rod, they will not die,
 and it will rescue their souls from Sheol (hell).
 Give our children wise hearts, so our own hearts will be glad.
  Our innermost being will rejoice when their lips
 speak what is right.  Do not let their hearts envy sinners;
 let them always live in the fear of You, LORD.
 May they remember that surely there is a future;
do not let their hope be cut off.
Let our children listen and be wise;
direct their hearts in Your Way.
  Do not let them be with heavy drinkers of wine
 or with gluttonous eaters of meat, for the heavy
 drinker and the glutton will come to poverty,
 and drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
 May our children listen to us and not despise us when we are old.
Let them buy truth and not sell it; let them
 get wisdom and instruction and understanding.
 Make us parents of the righteous; let us greatly rejoice!
 Let us sire wise children and be glad in them.
  Make us glad in our children; let us rejoice in them!
 May our children give us their hearts;
 let their eyes delight in our ways.
 Keep them from the deep pit of the harlot
 and the narrow well of the adulterous woman.
 Do not let her rob our family and
 increase faithlessness among men!
  Do not let my family linger over wine,
 for it brings woe, sorrow, contentions,
 complaining, wounds, and redness of eyes.
 Do not let us look on the red wine that
 sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly
 because it ends up biting like a serpent and stinging like a viper.
 We do not want our eyes to see strange things
 and our minds to utter perverse things,
 or be like one who lies down in the middle of the sea
 or like one who lies down on top of a mast.
 Do not let us wake up seeking another drink.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
