Meditate on verse 23.
He who guards his mouth and his tongue
guards his soul from troubles.
Pray Proverbs 21 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, the king’s heart is like channels of water in Your hand;
turn it wherever You wish.
LORD, weigh the heart of ________ and me;
may our ways be right in Your eyes.
Help us to do righteousness and justice,
for You desire that more than sacrifice.
Keep us from haughty eyes and a proud heart,
the lamp of the wicked, for it is sin.
Make us diligent; let our plans lead surely to advantage.
Do not let us be hasty, coming surely to poverty.
Let us acquire no treasures by a lying tongue
for that is a fleeting vapor, the pursuit of death.
The violence of the wicked will drag them away;
the way of a guilty man is crooked, so make
us pure; let our conduct be upright.
Do not let ________ be a contentious woman;
let it not be better for her husband to live
in a corner of a roof than inside the house with her.
Keep our souls from being wicked and desiring evil.
Give us favor with our neighbors.
Make us wise; instruct us and let us receive Your knowledge.
Make us righteous; do not let our house
be ruined because of wickedness.
Do not let us shut our ears to the cry of the poor.
Let justice be exercised, bringing joy to the righteous.
Do not let us wander from the way of understanding.
Do not let us love pleasure, wine, and oil
because that will not make us rich.
Do not let _________ be a contentious and vexing woman.
Let our home be known as the dwelling of the wise
filled with precious treasure and oil.
As we pursue righteousness and loyalty,
let us find life, righteousness, and honor.
Make us wise with the ability to scale the city
of the mighty and bring down the
stronghold in which they trust.
Let us guard our mouth and tongue,
guarding our soul from troubles.
Do not let us act with insolent pride;
we do not want our names to be
‘Proud,’ ‘Haughty,’ and ‘Scoffer.’
Let our hands desire and be able to work.
Keep us from the desires of a sluggard
for they put him to death.
Make us the righteous who give and do not hold back.
Make us people who listen to the
truth and who speak forever
. Keep us upright and make our way sure.
LORD, no wisdom, no understanding,
and no counsel can stand up against You.
Help us prepare for the day of battle.
Because the victory belongs to You, LORD Jesus~”
