Proverbs 17 - Praying God's Word

Please read Proverbs 17.

Meditate on verse 27.

He who restrains his words has knowledge,
and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.

Pray Proverbs 17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let ________ and my house be filled
with quietness rather than strife.
 Make us Your servants who act wisely;
 help us rule over our children if they act shamefully.
 LORD, please keep them from shameful behavior!
LORD, test our hearts.  Do not let us
 be evildoers who listen to wicked lips.
 Do not let us be liars who pay attention to a destructive tongue.
 Do not let us taunt You, our Maker, by mocking the poor;
 do not let us rejoice at calamity.
 Let our grandchildren be our crown and our children be our glory.
May we have excellent speech; let us not have lying lips.
Do not let us separate intimate friends
 by telling about the transgressions of others.
 Make us people of understanding;
 may rebukes have a deep impact on us.
 Do not let us be rebellious seekers of evil.
Keep us from fools in their folly.
 Do not let us return evil for good.
 Help us to abandon a quarrel before it breaks out.
Do not let us be an abomination to You
by justifying the wicked and condemning the righteous.
 Let us be friends who love at all times
and are there for others in adversity.
Give us good sense not to make pledges and become a guarantor.
 Do not let us love transgression and strife.
Straighten out our crooked minds
and keep our language from perversion;
 we do not want to fall into evil.
 LORD, do not let our children be fools!
 Please let them bring us joy and not sorrow.
 Give us joyful hearts that are good medicine.
 Make us people of wisdom and understanding.
 Do not let our children be foolish,
 bringing us grief and bitterness.
 Do not let us be fined for being righteous
and keep us from being struck
 for being noble and upright.
 Make us knowledgeable, restraining our words;
 give us understanding and a cool spirit.
Make us wise and prudent in the closing of our lips.
Let us know when to keep silent.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
