Meditate on verse 4.
The reward of humility and the fear of
the LORD are riches, honor, and life.
Pray Proverbs 22 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, ________ and I desire a good name
more than great wealth;
Your favor is better than silver and gold.
LORD, You are the maker of the rich and the poor;
therefore, we have a common bond.
Make us prudent; let us hide ourselves from evil.
Let us be humble and fear You, LORD;
let us be rewarded with riches, honor, and life.
Let us guard ourselves and keep us far
from the thorns and snares of the way of the perverse.
Help us train our children in the way they should go;
when they are old, do not let them depart from that way.
Do not let us sow iniquity and reap vanity.
Make us generous; bless us;
let us give some of our food to the poor.
As we drive out the scoffer, make contention go out;
make strife and dishonor cease. May the king
be our friend as we love purity of
heart and have gracious speech.
LORD, Your eyes preserve knowledge;
overthrow the words of the treacherous man.
Do not let us be sluggards and
keep us from the pit of the adulteress;
we do not want to be cursed by You, LORD.
Do not let foolishness be bound up
in the hearts of our children; may the rod
of discipline remove foolishness far from them.
Do not let us oppress the poor to make more for ourselves.
Let us incline our ears and hear the words of the wise;
let us apply our minds to Your knowledge,
for it will be pleasant if we keep Your words
within us that they may be ready on our lips.
Our trust is in You, LORD!
Help us to teach others;
help us to write excellent things
of counsels and knowledge,
to make people know the
certainty of the Word of Truth,
that they may give correct answers.
Keep us from robbing the
poor and crushing the afflicted,
for You will plead their case and
take the life of those who rob them.
Do not let us associate with a man given to anger
or go with a hot-tempered man; we do not want
to learn his ways and find a snare for ourselves.
Do not let us be among those who give
pledges and become guarantors for debts.
If we have nothing with which to pay, do not
let our bed be taken from under us.
Do not let us move the ancient boundary set by our fathers.
Make us skilled in our work; let us stand before kings.
For the sake of Your Kingdom, King Jesus~”
