Meditate on verses 1-3.
Gather yourselves together, yes, gather, O
nation without shame, before the decree
takes effect— the day passes like the chaff— before
the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you, before
the day of the LORD'S anger comes upon you.
Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth who
have carried out His ordinances; seek righteousness,
seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden
in the day of the LORD'S anger.
The LORD issues an invitation: The day of God’s anger is coming. Repent and seek Him before it is too late.
You yourselves know full well that the day of
the LORD will come just like a thief in the
night. While they are saying, "Peace and safety!"
then destruction will come upon
them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman
with child, and they will not escape.
—1 Thessalonians 5:2-3
Let God’s Word give you urgency to tell others about the day of the LORD, for “behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2b). Let your days not pass like chaff, the worthless part of the wheat that blows away in the wind. Let your days be fruitful because you walk with Jesus and tell others about Him, so they do not have to experience the day of the LORD’s anger (v. 2).
Pray Zephaniah 2:2-3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let ___________ and my days
pass like chaff. Before the day of Your anger
comes, let us seek You. Make us the humble of the
earth who carry out Your ordinances.
Let us seek righteousness and humility.
Please hide us in the day of Your anger.
In Your name, Jesus~”
