Meditate on verse 20.
O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted
to you, avoiding worldly and empty
chatter and the opposing arguments
of what is falsely called “knowledge.”
Paul closed his letter to Timothy with a plea to guard the truth entrusted to him. Paul knew when people believed ideas opposite of God’s Word, they would stray from true faith in God (v. 21).
Insert your name in place of “Timothy” in the meditation verse.
O _______, guard what has been entrusted to
you, avoiding worldly and empty
chatter and the opposing arguments of
what is falsely called “knowledge.”
God begs you to avoid what the world calls “knowledge.” If what you read and learn is in opposition to the Bible, it is a lie. God’s Word is timeless truth; hold fast the Word of Life, so you will not be deceived by Satan, the father of lies (Philippians 2:16; John 8:44).
Pray 1 Timothy 6:4-6 and 11-12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let ________ and me be conceited,
understanding nothing. Let us flee from controversial
questions, disputes about words, envy, strife, abusive
language, evil suspicions, and constant friction
between men of depraved mind deprived of the truth.
Make us Godly and content. Let us pursue
righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, perseverance,
and gentleness. Let us fight the good fight of faith
and take hold of the eternal life to which we were called.
Let __________ make the good confession of faith
in the presence of many witnesses.
In Your name, Jesus~”
