1 Timothy 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Timothy 4.

Meditate on verse 1.

But the Spirit explicitly says that in

later times some will fall away

from the faith, paying attention to

deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.

Here is a warning from God.  In the last days, people will remove themselves from the truth of God because they pay attention to and are deceived by the demonic.  Today, witches, zombies, vampires, and walking dead things fascinate many.  These topics are not merely adult entertainment, but are in children’s books, movies, and television shows.  These ideas are propagated by liars, searing one’s conscience like a branding iron (v. 2).  Ouch!

As Christians, we are called to be pillars and supporters of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15).  It is vital to discipline ourselves for the purpose of Godliness rather than be disciplined by the demonic (v. 7).  Be careful not to let books, shows, and games creep into your home which are the deceit of Satan.

Pray 1 Timothy 4:7 and 12-16 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let ______ and me have nothing

 to do with worldly fables.

Instead, help us discipline ourselves

for the purpose of Godliness.

In our speech, conduct, love, faith,

and purity, let us show ourselves

an example of those who believe.

Help us give attention to the

 reading of Scripture, to exhortation,

and to teaching the Word.

Do not let us neglect the spiritual gift

 within us.Help us be absorbed

in the things of You, God, so our

progress will be evident to all.

Help us pay close attention to ourselves

and what we teach, persevering

in Your things, God, ensuring salvation

for ourselves and those who hear.

In Your name, Jesus~”
