Meditate on verses 14-15.
Near is the great day of the LORD, near
and coming very quickly; listen, the day of the LORD!
In it the warrior cries out bitterly. A day of wrath is
that day, a day of trouble and distress, a day
of destruction and desolation, a day of darkness and
gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness.
Let there be no doubt in your mind about the coming of the day of the LORD. The prophets Isaiah, Ezekiel, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Zephaniah, and Malachi all wrote specifically about it (Isaiah 13:6, 9; Ezekiel 13:5; 30:3; Joel 1:15; 2:1, 11; 3:14; Amos 5:18, 20; Obadiah 1:15; Zephaniah 1:7, 14; 2:2-3; Malachi 3:2). Peter preached about the day of the LORD (Acts 2:20) and exhorts us with these words:
But the day of the LORD will come like a thief, in
which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the
elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and
the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all
these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort
of people ought you to be in holy conduct and Godliness.
—2 Peter 3:10-11
Take God’s Words to heart, telling others about the day of the LORD before it is too late.
Pray Zephaniah 1:12 and 17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let __________ and me become stagnant
in spirit. Do not let us say in our hearts, ‘The LORD will not
do good or evil!’ Let us tell people You will bring distress on
men. Let __________ stop walking like the blind because they
sin against You. Let them turn to You, so their blood will
not be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.
In Your name, Jesus~”
