Zechariah 14 - Praying God's Word

Please read Zechariah 14.

Meditate on verse 9.

And the LORD will be king over all the earth; in that day

the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

Zechariah 14 describes the time when Christ returns with His holy ones, Christians, to rule the earth.  It gives added details to the events recorded in Revelation 19:1-21 and 20:1-6. It is exciting to know a day is coming when “Jerusalem will dwell in security” (v. 11).  It is also sobering to know a day is coming when the enemies of God will experience a plague where “their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth” (v. 12).  As this panic from the LORD befalls them, their livestock will also experience this same flesh rotting plague (vs. 13, 15).

In the past, we may have been tempted to think such a thing would never happen in our lifetime; however, our own recent worldwide plague makes this chapter in Zechariah not so farfetched.  What God declares will happen.  This is not a fictional scene from a movie; this is not man’s imagination.  This is the Word of God, and this is the Truth (Psalm 119:160).  Whom will you tell before it is too late?

Today, pray Zechariah 14:9 and 11 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, ________ and I look forward to the day You

are king over all the earth, the day when

You, LORD, are the only one and Your name

the only one.  We look forward to the day

when people will live in Jerusalem,

and there will no longer be a curse, for

Jerusalem will dwell in security.

Because of Your name, Jesus~”
