Romans 7 - Praying God's Word

Please read Romans 7.

Meditate on verse 4.

Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die
to the Law through the body of Christ,
so that you might be joined to another,
to Him who was raised from the dead,
in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Paul used a marriage illustration to explain salvation in Christ. A married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he is alive, but if the husband dies, she is released from him (v. 2). If while the husband is living, the woman joins herself to another man, she is considered an adulteress (v. 3). When you become a Christian, you die to the Law and to your old self, and you are joined to Christ.
This is really great news! Christ makes you new. You live in and for Jesus. Having been released from the Law, you serve in newness of the Spirit (v. 6). Your life no longer bears fruit for death; now, you bear fruit for God (vs. 4-5).
Ponder these truths about who you are in Christ. Let the Spirit bear His fruit in you: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Pray Romans 7:4 and 6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, thank You that I was made to die
to the Law through the body of Christ,
so I could be joined to You, Jesus, who was raised
from the dead, in order to bear fruit for You, God.
Please let _______ choose to die to the Law
and be joined to You, too.
Let us serve in newness of the Spirit.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
