Meditate on verses 1-2.
Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God,
to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice,
acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove
what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 is the pivot point from the first eleven chapters which teach the truths of God to the last five chapters which teach how Christians are to function as a result of those truths. Based upon what God has done for you, offer yourself as a living sacrifice, which means giving Jesus LORDSHIP of your life, letting Him transform you, proving God saved you, and is changing you from the inside out.
The rest of chapter 12 makes an amazing prayer for your transformation, asking God’s help every step of the way.
Pray Romans 12:3-21 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help _____ and me not to think more highly
of ourselves than we ought to think.
Help us think so as to have sound judgment.
Help us be one body in Christ, and individually
members one of another.
Help us exercise our gifts appropriately.
Help our love be without hypocrisy.
Help us abhor what is evil
and cling to what is good.
Help us be devoted to one
another in brotherly love.
Help us give preference to one another in honor.
Help us not lag behind in diligence but make
us fervent in spirit, serving You, LORD.
Help us rejoice in hope, persevere in
tribulation, and be devoted to prayer.
Help us contribute to the needs of
the saints and practice hospitality.
Help us bless those who persecute us;
help us bless and not curse.
Help us rejoice with those who rejoice
and weep with those who weep.
Help us be of the same mind toward
one another, not haughty, associating with the lowly.
Help us not be wise in our own estimation.
Help us never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
Help us respect what is right in the sight of all men.
Help us be at peace with all men.
Help us never take your own revenge
but leave room for Your wrath.
Help us not be overcome by evil
but overcome evil with good.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
