Hosea 5 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 5.

Meditate on verse 1a.

Hear this, O priests!
Give heed, O house of Israel!
Listen, O house of the king!
For the judgment applies to you.

The LORD held everyone accountable for their deeds and refusal to know Him (vs. 1-2, 4). God’s judgment was no respecter of one’s rank or position—clergy, kings, and common people came under the scrutiny of God and His Word.
Let God examine your life with His Words from Hosea 5. Ask Him to reveal areas of unconfessed sin and seek His forgiveness as His faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please do not withdraw from me!  Search me, O LORD.

·      Am I a snare to others (v. 1)?
·      Am I a revolter deep in depravity (v. 2)?
·      Do I play the harlot and defile myself (v. 3)?
·      Do my deeds keep me from returning to You (v. 4)?
·      Is there a spirit of harlotry within me that keeps me from knowing You (v. 4)?
·      Does my pride testify against me (v. 5)?
·      Am I stumbling in iniquity and causing others to stumble with me (v. 5)?
·      Am I seeking You, LORD, but not finding You (v. 6)?
·      Have I dealt treacherously against You (v. 7)?
·      Have I borne illegitimate children—those not truly followers of Christ because of watered-down teaching (v. 7)?
·      Am I following man’s command instead of Your command, God (v. 11)?

I acknowledge my guilt and seek Your face.
Please forgive me in Your name, Jesus~”
