Hosea 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 4.

Meditate on verses 1-2.

Listen to the Word of the LORD, O sons of Israel, for the LORD has a case
against the inhabitants of the land because there is
no faithfulness or kindness or knowledge of God in the land.
There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing, and adultery.
They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.

God’s people did not behave like His people—their actions and attributes were opposite of His, and they were perishing (vs. 1-2, 6). God held the priests accountable for the grievous situation because they did not give the people the knowledge of His Word (v. 6).
Just as God took up His case against Israel and the priests nearly 2800 years ago, He examines His people today—no knowledge of God in the land, swearing, deception, murder, stealing, adultery, violence, and bloodshed. Would He condemn today’s priests, preachers, teachers, professors, leaders, and parents?

Take God’s Word to heart, giving heed to the LORD (v. 10):

·      God and His Word do not change; commit to know what He says.
·      Be taught by those who know the Bible is inerrant, teaching every Word.
·      Be the parent, friend, teacher, leader, preacher, Christian—who unashamedly shares the knowledge of God, so others are not destroyed.

Pray to be the opposite of Hosea 4:6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let Your people no longer be destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Do not let ___________ and me reject Your knowledge.
Make us Your faithful priests who remember Your law and teach it.
LORD, do not forget our children.
In Your name, Jesus~”
