Please read Hosea 1.

Meditate on verse 2.
When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea,
“Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry,
for the land commits flagrant harlotry, forsaking the LORD.”
Can you imagine the LORD telling a young preacher to start doing ministry by marrying a prostitute? Well, that is exactly what God told the prophet Hosea to do. Hosea would be God’s walking sermon illustration with his wife Gomer and three young children in tow.
The names of the five individuals in this family are important for God’s sermon points:
· Hosea means “salvation”1
· Gomer means “complete”2
· Jezreel means “God sows”3
· Lo-ruhamah means “no mercy”4
· Lo-ammi means “not my people”5
Keep their names and meanings in mind as you continue to read this story of God sowing into the lives of people who do not deserve His mercy for the purpose of bringing salvation and completeness, making them His people.
Pray Hosea 1:7 over a situation where you need the LORD to bring deliverance.
“LORD, please have compassion
on the house of __________ and deliver them,
not by bow, sword, battle, horses, or
horsemen, but by You, LORD our God.
For the glory of Your name, Jesus~”
